Holdrege fatality

A junior at Holdrege High School died late Wednesday afternoon following a one-vehicle accident in Holdrge. Police Chief Dennis DaMoude says it occurred around 5:18pm as a jeep, being driven by 17-year-old Mitchell Hupka of Holdrege, rolled on a city street. He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Chief DaMoude says a seatbelt was not in use. The Holdrege Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol and Phelps County Sheriffs Office.
